Rest In Profligacy

--- 2001-08-18 ---

What a complete and utter waste of the Earth's precious resources, this thing of funerals, burials, graves, shrines, tombs, monuments, mausoleums, and the lot. I refuse to support this death industry that plays upon the human weakness of not being able to let go of loved ones. This industry is essentially no different than all the other industries that exploit human weakness, such as the tobacco industry.

When I'm dead and gone from this world, just throw my spent and decaying body to the fucking fishes. Burn it! Heck, turn it into dog food, if it pleases you. Do you really think I'll give a damn!??!?! I simply cannot comprehend how humankind can be so idiotic as to waste time and resources and - in the case of a cemetery burial - precious space on the planet, and all for the sake of glorifying dead and rotting human corpses. There are other ways to celebrate the memory of lives that have passed.

And to think that there are even people on this planet who believe that when the "Rapture" comes, the souls of the righteous will rise up from their graves and soar into Heaven. Come on, people! Wake up and smell the decomposition! This is simply not sustainable. What kinds of a world will we have two thousand years from now if we keep up this pace of occupying a small region of the Earth's surface for every single human who dies between now and then? It just makes no sense.

We need to rediscover and once again embrace nature's cycle of life. From dust to dust. From food to food.
