Scribbles on Tiny Pieces of Paper - and Other Profound Knick-knacks

1. Catacombs of Incarnation (2007-02-14)

I envision, just beneath the surface of our reality exists a network of infinite tunnels, there to shuttle us from life to life, like mysterious catacombs waiting beneath an unnoticing city. At death, descending to this subsystem of traffic, being channelled and funnelled, and then to surface elsewhere to a new life, in the world above the membrane that keeps the two apart.

2. Religions Like Grains of Sand (2003-06-01)

The systems that are this universe are ancient beyond our ability to fathom. The misguided beliefs of the relatively infantile major religions of man are a mere hiccup in the grand unfolding - no more than grains of sand against an immense ocean of complexity.

3. The Central Principle (2003-05-30)

Evolutionism - The Central Principle: No principles, but this one, are immutable.

4. Shitting on the USA (2003-11-10)

The religious right would like nothing better than to squeeze out a feculent steaming dump on the American constitution. They may protest this characterization, but the truth of this accusation is borne out by their actions and initiatives. We must consider religious fundamentalists of any flavor to be as pernicious to human society as those Islamic fundamentalists who resort to acts of murder and terrorism as their vehicle of dissent.

5. Knowing God (2003-07-24)

Let no man claim to speak for God. You will never truly know God, but you will spend all eternity trying. This is the process of knowing God, all around you, every life you'll live, and it never ends. Systems, within systems, within systems, within systems, and forever.

6. Merging Our Changes (2003-03-16)

Mankind is like a tree in a source control system. Now that the continents have been "sewn together" with mankind's transportation and communication technologies, all the branches of mankind need to be integrated to merge their changes back down into the trunk.

7. We Must Become a Team Player (2002-12-21)

It is my wish to see the United States at the forefront of a new vision of internationalism. In order to achieve this, Hollywood must cease to be merely a propaganda tool for promoting the USA "brand identity" and must, instead, make a concerted effort to promote a vision of a cooperative and constructive America that is not consumed by its own arrogant self-righteousness. In order to achieve a prosperous America in the long term, we must work towards a sustainable future of prosperity for the entire world.

8. Touch Across Time (2002-12-01)

You! Yes, you. You in what is the future to me. I am addressing you. We will touch each other across the great expanse of time. You reach back to know me - to touch me. Now I am with you.

9. Tasting Forms (2002-11-30)

We are older than the universe. We desire to experience patterns, so we inhabit forms. We try on human bodies, so that we may see how they will taste.

10. World Leaders and Child Molesters (2002-06-07)

Leaders occupy a position of awesome influence and enjoy the immense trust of those they serve. Corrupt leaders who abuse this trust for their own selfish interests must be considered as evil as a child molester who abuses the trust of impressionable children. Society must hand down the most severe judgement and condemnation upon corrupt leaders, as would be inflicted upon the perpetrators of the most despicable crimes that society can possibly imagine. Through the phenomenal degree of leverage that can be achieved in a top position of leadership, corrupt actions at this level can have a devastating ripple effect throughout society.

11. Existential Epicenter (2002-06-05)

There have been a handful of moments in my life when I have reached a place in mind that truly felt like the starting point or center of existence. Each time, this place was reached through a pattern of thought that felt strangely familiar and natural. Yet, this state would be as momentary and fleeting as a flash of de ja vu, only to slip away as a vivid dream conjured by the subconscious that one tries to capture through the clumsy language of the conscious.

12. A Democratic Reality (1994-02-15)

Reality is democratic - the concept of spiritual consensus - consensus on the specific nature of the real world which spirits use as a medium for interaction.

13. Exercises in Poking Your Eye With a Protractor Point (1993-12-13)

Remember, these are no more than visualisation exercises. They merely serve as an aid in the process of decontextualising yourself: removing your perception of yourself from the context of reality.

14. Sonic Decor (1993-11-07)

I have long since given up hope of anyone truly being inspired by the music I create to the extent that they would actively and in a very deliberate manner listen to the music rather than just turning it on in the background as sonic scenery - almost as though the only place in their lives for serious music is as part of the decor.

15. Rock That Boat (1992-01-07)

About that old adage - 'Don't rock the boat'. Well, what an absurd notion! Don't people realise how essential it is to do just that? How important it is for the overall health of mankind? Of course, it's a completely different thing to rock the boat until it tips right over and everybody drowns. Those who start by gently rocking the boat prepare the crew for an oncoming storm. In this way people learn the skill of being able to deal with the inevitability of change. People become practised in balancing and realigning their stance to accomodate waves of change. I guess you could term this responsible radicalism. The problem is that mankind goes along on a certain course while people sit by complacently without questioning, allowing misguided practises to become so entrenched that eventually certain sections of society erupt into radical opposition. Under these circumstances, the change which inevitably follows is extremely traumatic for society. We need therefore to make it fundamental to our philosophy to be rocking the boat in a consistent and sustained manner. Rock that boat, man!!!

16. On Painting Methods (1990-10-23)

I like to attain in my paintings a detailed finish (as opposed to a realistic finish). This detail may at times emulate natural details but is not bound in any way to resemble true-to-life detail. Detail which is obviously unnatural can be highly effective in lending a surrealistic scene a certain degree of believability (if that is at all possible), giving rise to an image which is not obviously a painting by virtue of impressionistic or abstract painting techniques but rather due to the incredulity of the image being portrayed.
