The blue states have all of this country's wealth, and apparently also the lion's share of its intelligent people. In the direction that George W Bush is taking this country, is it possible that the red states will stagnate and become like wastelands, while the blue states will attract America's best and brightest because of a climate of freedom and tolerance?
The highly skilled, highly intelligent, highly creative, and highly ingenuitive people from the red states who are minorities or outcasts because they're eccentric, because they're gay, or because they're just not white males, may well flee to the blue states in the face of a rising tide of bigotry and oppression fueled (and exploited) by conservative Christianity. The economies of the all red states may then eventually become about as vibrant as the economy of Utah.
