You know, one doesn't have to be gay to want gays to have equal rights and opportunities in society. Just like one doesn't have to be black to want black people (and other minorities) to have equal rights and opportunities in this society. But, the Republican Party of America run by the so-called "neo-conservatives" has succeeded in using gay marriage as a wedge issue to bitterly divide our country and to satisfy their own selfish lust for power. This is a declaration of war on homosexuals, and the lobbyists behind the state constitutional amendments will be emboldened by their success and looking at the next ways that they can leverage the tide of bigotry against homosexuals.
As the Nazi Party rose to power in Germany, it was the Jews and homosexuals who were the scapegoats and the "root cause of all their society's ills". Perhaps as America evolves towards fascism, it will be the Muslims and homosexuals. How original! Variety is the spice of life, as they say. I guess they could throw liberals, environmentalists, and intellectuals into the stew as well, just for good measure. Middle America becomes more of a joke by the day. A bad joke, of course - the really unfunny kind.
