I feel the American political system is somewhat like a juggernaut, carving its way inexorably forward, incapable of making substantive turns away from its current heading, and with only the ability to make very slight trim adjustments. America is not nimble on its feet. And so, the growth of America's economy is causing damage to the planet at a much faster rate than the political system will allow us to adapt to compensate for the impact that we have on the environment.
