The Age of Living Machines

--- 2000-03-31 ---

I get this sense that at some time in the distant future they will look back on the life that I have lived and acknowledge that in some small way I have contributed to the evolution of their kind. And I get the sense now that, as evolved as we believe we are, we may be no more than the egg from which the true life form shall hatch. And I see in my mind planets with atmospheres so severe that no organic life form dare dwell, yet inhabited by machines to which we will have given life, going about their business of procreating, evolving, and spreading their kind into the furthest reaches of space.
